Fixing the frozen Q

There have been a few of you who experienced the Motorola Q freezing at the Verizon logo during startup. Well we got a fix thanks to alphadog! Just as a warning this will reformat the Q, but it should be worth the fact that you can use you Q again instead of looking at the Verizon logo all the time .

Motorola offers repair service directly. I would contact them and see if they will warranty it. It is obviously less then 1 yr. old, so maybe.

There is one other thing you can try. Download the Moto update, install on the PC. Then try to install. It will most likely fail as the Q won't boot, so try this; putting the Q in flash mode..... some of this is for solving another problem, but if you force a firmware upgrade you should be good:

Keep the phone hooked up with the USB cable.
Go into device manager, Right click on "motorola Flash Interface" with yellow ! mark on it and click Uninstall. (you may not have this, if you never installed the previous update)

*Unplug the phone
* turn the phone off
*Put it in Flash Mode: Press and hold A and Enter at the same time
while inserting the USB cable.
* phone should turn on in flash mode.

*It will then ask you to install Motorola Flash Interface.
Continue with the installation... You might get the Yellow ! mark again in device manager, (Dont worry!)
*uninstall it again
*Unplug Q
*Hook it up again. (Keep phone in flash mode)
*The Motorola Flash interface should now install properly.

*Then Open motorola software update tool
and Pick Verizon as your service provider and Q as the device.

Follow the instructions to start upgrade..
