Registry - Changing maximum headset volume

For those of you who are dissatisfied with the maximum listening volume while using a wired stereo headset, here is a solution to adjust the headset audio base gain using the registry. Note that this will not affect Bluetooth headsets, nor will it affect onboard speaker volume.

Navigate to
HKLM/Software/Motorola/BPCTRLR/WaveDev/BaseGains

Locate DWORD Value StereoHdstPathGain

A larger number will specify a higher gain. The system must be rebooted for changes to take effect. For me, the optimum value is 10, but I would recommend raising in single steps above the default to avoid damaging equipment (or your ears). An OS reinstall will most likely revert this setting, so you may have to change it again if you update.
