I bought a motorola h700 bluetooth headset for the Q a while ago and there have been a few issues.
The big two are that sometimes I get static/noise depending on where the h700 is relative to the headset (I guess it's kinda cool sometimes because I can pretend I'm a trucker talking over the CB radio...not!), and secondly at times people on the other end can't hear me very well.
I've read about these problems over at the forums on cnet, but wanted to see for myself. It's not as bad as it sounds, but the problems are still there. If there's anything better though, I'd like to know.
Anybody have a reliable good bluetooth headset that's tried and true?
I currently use a Jabra BT250, yes, old school I know, but it works perfectly fine for me. And sure it is a bit huge but as I always say, "functionality over size." That's why I'm glad the Motorola Q covers both bases!
I'm in the market for a bt headset myself and was considering the H700 and the HS850. Based on your experiences, would you recommend either or one vs. the other. Thanks for the input
I can't speak for the motorola hs850, but I can vouch for the h700.
IMHO the h700 is a decent bluetooth headset, far from perfect, but decent. Since my last post about my h700 it seems like the h700 has been working better for some strange reason (either that or it's all in my mind). Lately it's been a bit more clear and loud, and there's been no problems pairing it.
If you look at the reviews on cnet.com about the hs850 and h700, the h700 fairs a little better.
I've had two h700s (the first one i accidentaly dropped into water while washing my car...don't wear it while doing anything with water by you...FYI Motorola's warranty doesn't cover any type of moisture or water damage), with suprisingly noticable differences. The first one (which was a silver color) worked really well when I first got it and as time progressed performance was inconsistent, and my second one (a black color) improved as it was used (like it was broken in).
Based off of my experience I can recommend the h700 if you want something that works okay and lasts long on a full charge (i charge it every one or two weeks depending on usage and i talk about 15min-1hr a day using the headset).
Mind you there will be people who say it's abysmal and others that love it, so these are just my personal experiences. It never hurts to do additional research to avert buyer's remorse. I hope this helps!
Does anyone know what the "top of the line" in bluetooth headsets is right now? I was also leaning towards the H700. I've never owned a BlueTooth headset before, though...
From Motorola Headsets.. based on my experience will be the H500 and the brand new H3
give it a check on hellomoto.com/us
H700 has a Boom (Microphone) and is outdated...
Even ... the H500 is the best on Motorola to do Internet Calls when used with the PC850 USB BT Adapter from Motorola, Too...
I have both of these headsets. I like the Plantronics because of the size and the sound quality. I like the Motorola because of the ease of turning on and off, which saves the battery life. They both sound crackly sometimes.
i've got the jabra bt250 --- tried the motorola ones thinking it would go better with a motorola phone but they aren't comfortable for me. i like how the jabra wraps around my ear - very comfortable and can be worn all day with out feeling like i'm going to loose it or it's going to come off --- very comfortable and better sound since it goes in the ear instead of over -- can hear a lot better especially in the car -- all the partners at my office bought the motorola for their phone and have now switched to the jabra just like mine
