I was just wondering what people thought about cases and which ones they use/recommend. Any preferences between hard or soft, plastic or leather? I'm just trying to find a nice case to protect my new Q and was hoping for your suggestions. Thanks
You are getting into the realm of personal preference. I prefer the Q as slim as can be, so I like the holster that came with it or the VZW case with the magnetic flap.... 2 drawbacks to the VZW case are it pushes the keypad, so locking the keypad is a must, and there is no cutout for the headphone jack.
Others like the silicone cases, but then it is hard to fit the Q into the holster or the VZW cases. Vaja, makes some very nice and very expensive leather cases that are made to stay on the phone all the time. My opinion is that they add to much bulk, but some users like them as they hold business cards and SD cards.
if you are using the extended battery do not use the verizon leather one with the magnetic flap. it constantly presses on the silver center button. i think that is why my Q had to be replaced due to it breaking the button in. the button can be brushed against and go off after the buton got stuck in. /shrug
I am new to this thread and have tried to gather as much information on the Q as possible. The most attractive case I have come across is a case produced by a company by the name of Modi. It is a clear crystal case that is hard, durable and is very formfitting. It also has cut-outs that will allow complete usage of all the Q's functions.

I use the extended battery and was directed to a blackberry magnetic flip leather case. It fits perfectly but I still lock the keypad. I would like to find a case that fits the extended battery and protects the screen better.
go to ebay.com and put in extended battery case motorola q....... and walah you will see all kinds of cases that fit. now you have to choose which one is right for you... always get the extended battery unless you are not a talker or real user of the functions of the phone.... i talk 10,000 minutes per month. so i always go extended.
Our sponser BoxWave has cases to fit the Motorola Q with extended battery, none of them actually cover up the screen but they do have screen protectors as well.
