Motorola Q time

Is anyone else having problem with their time on the Q? MY phone updated the time on Sunday(Day light savings time), and then today I noticed that my clock on the phone was a hour behind. I contacted Alltel and they told me everybody with a smartphone is having this problem and they are aware of the problem. Just kind of curious if anyone else with alltel is having the same problem.

On my phone saw that the time had not reset the next morning. I turned it off and then turned it back on the time had reset. With that everything's good to go.

Time Zone issue

I also have had problems with my Q since Sunday. Even though I am in Eastern Time Zone, my Q keeps setting itself to Central Time Zone. I called Alltel and was told it was a problem with EVDO towers in Michigan. I have applied the Microsoft Daylight Saving time patch and checked with Motorola to be sure my software was up-to-date.

I went into the settings, clock and alarm, date and time and it was set for central time zone. I changed it back to Eastern and set the time for the right time. I just checked it as I was writing this and it was back to the central time zone but displaying the correct eastern time zone time. I am so confused, I thought the cell phones got the the time from the towers but yet I can change my time zone and time. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

The Windows Mobile phones do not get their time from the cellular carrier.

Not true... recently when i have traveled from michigan to chicago (3x in past 2 months) my alltel Q has switched from Eastern to Central Time Zone.
In the past my windows smart phones (this is my 3rd) have not automatically switched, which i found annoying to be honest, but i was recently pleased to find that mine did. And when you set appointments correctly in Outlook, and your phone automatically switches, its all seamless.... no converting, or changing anything in the settings.

BUT - i too have had problems in past week with my Q switching to Central time zone on its own.

so above moderator: don't just say our WM devices don't get info from the tower when if you do a quick google search you'll see that there are several of us who clearly are.

Welcome to the forums!

You are absolutely right. I shouldn't assume that everyone's Q works the same way mine does. However, before you go calling people liars you shouldn't assume that everyone's phone works like your's either.

Tell me EXACTLY where in my post I called you a "liar". Because I've re-read it 10 times and I can't find it. Pointing out that your statement wasn't true doesn't mean I think you're a liar. It just means I've had a different (and very recent) experience to the contrary. And, because this is a big problem that has arisen for us Q users on Alltel you can't just make blanket statements that suggests our phones are NOT being pushed an incorrect time and/or time zone, when in fact they are. Its a big deal. But don't get yourself in a knot --- try to be helpful instead.

Alltel TimeZone Problems

After many calls to Alltel, they finally admitted that they have a timezone/DST issue. They told me I had to apply all those stupid DST updates too. None of them fixed the real problem on their network.

After doing alot of poking around on my phone. I finally found the AutoTimeZone settings. So, I have setup my Q to not automatically set the timezone from the network, I still allow it to set the time automatically. I also set activesync to update my clock from my PC. When they fix their problem on the network I will set it back to auto.

It is in SETTINGS-MORE-MORE-PHONE SETTINGS-CLOCK & TIME ZONE

It is pretty deep, but it fixed my problem with all my appointments being an hour off.
