MotoQ as a modem

Does anyone use there mobile as there modem?? I installed drivers but for some reason cannot actually get it to work as a modem, does anyone have any advice, also i heard that if you install the drivers then delete the software off the computer and set up a connection the system thinks that you are actually just using the phone because it dials #777 is there any truth to this???

Couldnt help but to see that you have alltel as your carrier. I have them as well and couldnt be happier. In order for you to use your phone as a modem, you are gonna have to call them and have them add that feature onto your plan. Its an extra $10 a month. Once thats done, you need to set up an internet connection using the dial-up method. the provider name is going to be alltel in lower case letters and your account name is your phone # @alltel.com. #777 is the number used to dial. If you dont want to go that route, you can try using PDANET. It allows you to use your phone as a modem through active sync. It works fine from what I have seen although I did notice that it disconnects you alot. You can find it in the downloads section of this site.

One more thing. You need to go to accessories on your phone. from there click on modem and click activate. a prompt wll follow telling you to (re)plug your usb cable. once ou do that, just click on your alltel dial up icon and you should need be good to go. It will alow you to recieve incoming calls and txt msgs but you cannot make outbound calls. hope this helps you.

$10 a month for the tethering plan, or $34 once for PDAnet.
