Angry Moto Q 9m Outlook and Mail Help

Our company does not have an exchange server. I connect to our email system via outlook on my laptop via VPN. We use an IMAP server through Outlook on my laptop. Does that make sense so far?

I have several problems.
1. I can't get my laptop to even see the phone. I am using the latest version of Windows Mobil Device Center. I think it is version 6.1 or so. It worked great with my HP handheld device. But it will not see/find my phone. I loaded the latest version off the net and tried again and still nothing.

2. Once I do get the phone to sync with my laptop is this phone the one that I really need given that we do not use an exchange server. I would still like to sync the phone with Outlook on my laptop. Contacts, To Do, etc. I can get to my email via our coroporate web site.

3. Am I better off getting a less sophisticated/expensive phone since we do not have Microsoft Exchange server?

4. I cannot even see Outlook Pocket version on this phone. I thought it came with it? Is this a function of not using Microsoft Exchange Server?

I'm getting very frustrated. Help will be much appreciated.

Regards,

Pat

Welcome to the forums. First, I'm going to move this thread to one of the Q 9m forums because you have one of the newer models. Perhaps one of the others with a Q 9m will have some better ideas. In the meantime:
  1. Have you read through: http://www.hellomotoq.com/forums/ver...e-sync-pc.html?
  2. Plenty of people use the Q without an Exchange server.
  3. I don't think so.
  4. You should see it once you get a mail account set up. If you're not setting it up to send/receive over the internet then I believe you should see it once you have it syncing with your laptop.
Hang in there!
