When you go into Windows Media Player and get to the Library (Menu->Library->My Device) You should also be able to do a Menu->Update Library which should search the device as well as the storage card for mp3s. Otherwise, you can also play individual files by selecting Menu->Open File and navigating to the "Storage Card" folder which should have the music you uploaded. I think when you do this it also adds each file you open using "Open File" to your library, but don't quote me on that.
i had the same problem and i went to windows media player on my Q and selected menu. went to the library and pressed menu. then it should have an option to pick which library u want to load from that menu, and just select storage card.
i have the same problem. my Q will not recognize my Kingston 2gb card. I have the update firmware version. Apparantly you are supposed to see Storage Card under the Menu > Library. I only see My Device so I cannot add all the songs on my storage card to the library..
I called verizon tech support and the 2nd level technician said he has to request a Q with the updated firmware and then get a 2gb card to test.. what a pain...
for the dummmys out there like me...it took me about 3 days to realize that the MINI SD CARD does click into the q and isnt held in by the rubber cover lol so i had problems with the card going in and out of readablity until i realized to push it in all the way lol make sure the card is clicked into the spring!!
Well, when I have my miniSD card in, I leave them all my mp3s in the root folder of the card. The phone recognizes those mp3s when I am selecting a ring tone for a particular person.

how do u use ur mp3 as ringtones...i still havent been able to figure it out
I had to figure this out and this is what I did with my SD card:
Put the songs you want to be available for ring tones in the \Storage Card\My Documents folder and the phone will have them listed for ringtones.
