Just ran the Motorola Software Update on my Q (it's the original silver one sold by Verizon). Went from version Q2-BP_C_06.07.03P to Q2-BP_C_06.0B.11P. During the update you are warned that everything will be erased. Moto is not kidding. The update deleted my phone number. Not registered on the network. Called Verizon Wireless tech support and the solution was to do *228 to program the phone. Apparently this registers it on the network as well as updates the roaming profiles. Good thing I had read in this forum to get Sprite Backup. Worked great, even between different versions of the firmware (I had setup the restore to prompt when the software noticed differences in firmware and/or devices). All my ringtones, profiles, programs and such are back and is much easier than reinstalling and reconfiguring. Don't understand how MOTO can't write upgrade software that doesn't do the "damage" to the phone that it does during the upgrade process. At least I have a good process to recover when I do the updates. Get Sprite, best $30 you spend on your cellphone.
