I sent an email to eCare the other day asking this

I currently have the Motorola Q. I was wondering you Sprint was going to release an update to Windows Mobile 6 for this phone in order to fix the battery life and bluetooth issues that this phone is known for?
I just emailed them out of curiosity to see what they where going to say. This was their response

Thank you for contacting Sprint. I would like to begin by apologizing for any inconvenience and frustration that has been caused due to this issue.
Yes, we are in the process of releasing an updated Windows Mobile 6 for the Motorola Q device but we do not have a specific date for the launch. You may sign up online under "email sign-up at the bottom of our home page" to get updates sent you you by email at : Welcome Back to Sprint
You should've specified which Q you're talking about. They're probably thinking you have the new one and waiting on an update to the OS it already has.
I'm sure if you email them back telling them you have the original Q with WM5, they will reply telling you there will be NO upgrade available to WM6.
So in a sense they didn't lie to you. Neither of you were specific...
Good point. Maybe the e-mail should have said, "When will Sprint provide an upgrade from Windows Mobile 5 to Windows Mobile 6 for my Motorola Q?"
I emailed that specific question, and was told that they should have more information in the next 20 days as to a release date of a WM6 upgrade for the original Q.
yeah, im not sure if that's really gonna happen. you should do like i did and get a q9c from sprint. it's a much better phone and the Q and Q9C actually cost the same right now.
I think its a form e-mail, verizon said the same thing, "understand your frustration" followed by a sales pitch. Buy the shiny new phone that we still will strangle, and overcharge for data access. Too bad their phone service is so good.
