I've had my Q for a little over a month now and, with no rythme or reason, the entire OS constantly freezes.
The problem is, it will do it while idle, so I won't notice until 2 hours later, at which point I've missed multiple calls (phone doesn't ring), multiple text messages and multiple emails. As you can imagine, this is causing me to be quite.... angered, to say the least.
I can't even cycle the power to reset the device; that is, I can turn off the device but then it won't turn back on. I have to take out battery and then turn it back on. And then, wow, look at all the voicemails and messages.
I can't even begin to decribe my frustration with this. It literally happens at least 4 times daily.
Has anyone else had this problem? I'm about to call Verizon tomorrow and return the *&!#@ thing.
Hi turnstylz, welcome to the forum. That does sound pretty bad, did you put any software in it? You might want to check what programs are running in the background, If you have a lot running at the same time that might be why its freezing.
system tools / task manager / select programs / kill
I'm having the same problems these days. Yet the weird thing about it is, i just updated the rom 2 days ago and yet Now it starts the freezing twice a day nonsense. 4 days ago it would have never done this. I have only 3 3rd party programs now as opposed to like 6 that I used to use all the time before. I'm practically an obsessive-compulsive when it comes to killing unused tasks.. I never have more than 3 running, usually just two.. my messaging and "Quick List."
Let me know what you think.. should i call verizon and ask for a swap or what cuz at this point i'm running this phone very light.
I would do a master reset first. Run it for a day or 2 with no 3rd party software. If it still freezes, it is a hardware issue; return it.
If it does not freeze it is some 3rd party app.
BTW, there are some apps that run on startup that can be hidden from task manager, so just because it is not listed here, does not mean that there isn't a 3rd party app running that is causing the problem.
Is there any way to end task that you cant see with the standard task manager? Like is there some kind of advanced program manager i don't know about? Perhaps.. XBar includes this?
I know that the Resco task manager does this (although it always throws an error when I open and stopped working after a week), but there is nothing built in.
I have several 3rd apps installed in my Q and it happened just as
Turnstylz said: mine Q was idle, not recharging, a when I've tryed to make it wake up it didn't. I know that time none of 3rd apps were running.
I´m from Brazil, using a Brazilian Portuguese version of Windows Mobile 5: 5.1.195, compilation: 14960.2.4.0.
I just wanted to mention that I have also a freezing problem and that the problem happens as soon as I activete external POP3 email.
I either use the included Mail program or the Telus Mobile eMail and it always does the same thing. Freezes when not used. Which in my case is a big problem 'cause I have customers calling on that phone.
My phone is set to English and here are the versions
OS 5.1.195 (Build 14960.2.4.0)
I have the phone replaced under warranty twice allready with about the same results.
I just don't know what to do now. I'll just keep on replacing the dawn phone I guess
I had the same problem with my first two. Sprint released MOL3 and I haven't had any trouble since. I don't know what update Telus has but it would be worth checking out.
