Daylight Saving Time 2007 Update

Important information for Windows Mobile-powered devices as Daylight Saying Time starts early this year.

Congress has changed the dates for Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the United States starting in 2007. Canada has adopted similar DST dates. These changes could cause clocks and Microsoft Outlook calendar appointments on Windows Mobile-powered devices to display incorrect times for March 11 – April 1, 2007 and October 28 – November 4, 2007 and again in subsequent years. You can find more information about the exact dates and potential impact in the Changes in DST section.

You can prevent these problems by installing three Microsoft files on your device and/or PC:
  • Microsoft Windows Operating Systems Update
  • Daylight Saving Time 2007 Update Tool
  • Outlook Time Zone Update Tool
All users in the United States, Canada and Mexico should immediately install these updates. Users in other countries should install these updates if they travel to the United States, Canada and/or Mexico or if they make calendar appointments that include attendees that are based in the United States, Canada and/or Mexico.

Carefully follow all directions depending on how you synchronize your device. Click here for the update page.

I just did the latest software update and when I installed the DST cab, I got an error saying the file was for a previous version of windows. Anybody know if the latest update has DST built-in?

PS: Software update fixed my battery charging problem; at leastit appears to have. I'll let this go a day or 2 and post an update.

The DST update is included in MOL3 for Verizon.

I hate to sound like an idiot, but isn't the time set by the carrier (via the towers), and not by the user?

The Windows Mobile phones are a little different.

Y2K was a big yawn for me but I had to work hard for DST 2K7. I had to update all of my servers. Then my Exchange servers. Then my workstations. Then I had to make sure everyone with ActiveSync had the latest version. Then I still had some trouble.

The Q uses Windows mobile OS and does not get the time from the carrier. If you recall, you have to change your local time zone, just as you would on a Windows PC.
I'm not sure how the Q keeps time, I haven't heard of the Win Time client being built in.
Maybe some of the others know more about this.
