Is there a way to use Emoticons in Text Messaging?

the function is available with extreme text, but logic would assume that the other person would have to have extreme text and emoticons enabled or something....
Most people wouldn't have Extreme Text but I would imagine that the person receiving the text would see the smileys in text. It might be handy if you don't remember what characters to use to make different smileys.
extreme text will do it for you. I found a crack just by searching google for "birdsoft crack".....most phones can see your smiley....such as older flip phones and such...just type
