Trying to add new sounds and ringtones to my Q. I copied some .wav files from my PC to my Q, but my Q doesn't give me the option to select them as a ringtone or alert sound. It does let me play them with Windows Media player though. Any suggestions?
they have to be in a certain directory!! move them to your my documents folder and they should show up under your ring tones. You are better off using mp3 format.. wav takes up way to much space. you can cut clips from mp3s at 56kbs @ 22hz mono and they sound perfect. i use sony sound forge and it works perfect. if you need any more info just message me.

Jasondensmore ..hey I have some issues with ringtonesmyself..I have MP3 files stored on my card, and when I try to bring them to windows or my documents folder ..it seems to convert hem to Nero Mobile. What this does is when i remove my card (theses MP3 files i hoved) will not be an option to use as a ringtone. Do i need Nero Mobile or is something I should use or what?..This was a application that came with the phone..though i have not activated it or anything..not sure i need this i am fine with Windows Media player...i think no?
Hi - I'm new here, and I followed your thread to create my own ringtones, but my phone still isn't using them.
They automatically showed up under documents and settings, so I move them to My Documents, yet my phone still doesn't use them. They are mp3's, and I created them thru Myxer. Any help you could provide would be great.
Thanks!

Update:
I searched the forum and tried the solution below, and now it works for all my incoming calls:
So here is what you do.
Connect your Motorola Q to your desktop PC running ActiveSync.
Click on Explore
Navigate to: My Windows Mobile-Based Device\Application Data\Sounds
Drag and Drop the WMA or MP3 file in question (hit okay when you see thr prompt).
Now, on your Motorola Q, hit Start>Settings>Sounds
Press in on Ring tone to pull up the list.
Your recently uploaded MP3 or WMA should be in the list. Select it and hit done.
Hit done one more time to confirm your selection.
Now call your phone and try it out!
Thanks!

I just joned and used yor instructions and it worked great.
But now new problem. How do I down size the song as you suggested.
I only have 55 MB on phone and I have now used 42 MB.

Question...Once i place the song in the path below**...how many songs can i have in there? is there a certain amount of space the sound folder can hold..I also have a mini SD card (2GB)...when i'm trying to turn them into ringtones, can they come from the SD card? please advise.

Jason is indeed learned kudos/props/etc. What I was doing was converting songs from WMP on my PC to WMA files in a folder I created. I then drag/dropped those files into the Sounds file on my moto Q which is under apps. Took alot of memory but every WMA is selectable as a ringtone
