EDIT: DIAL-UP NETWORKING DOES NOT WORK WITH THE NEW FIRMWARE!!! This is a warning so that nobody wastes their time on going through with this tutorial just to find out in the end that it doesn't work. Sorry folks.
Now my question, if my new Q has this firmware on it, is there any way to get and install an older version firmware on it? Or is the Man simply Determined that we won't have the use of the device, as an external laptop modem Without paying the Vz-gods their extra $30 a month??
I was having the same issue when I first got my Q and tried to use it as a modem. I wound up installing PDANET and now use my Q as my wireless access. I don't have the Data package, so speeds are only 2mbps but it gets me to where I need to go.
Don't know if this answers your direct issue, but that's the workaround I found for Internet Access using my Q.
