Android Smartphone Threads?

I've been thinking with the release of the Motorola Sholes and CLIQ we could make room for some Android phone coverage here to keep things moving untill Motorola decides to indeed make a WM7 phone. What do you all think?

This is a great idea. However, I also think HMQ should expand into other phones/devices as well. The Motorola Q series handsets are getting rather outdated and they won't be around forever. New devices on the market with much better capabilities are out and increasing. More HTC devices and perhaps support for Symbian users (If any). What I also think, now this is a personal opinion, I think that HMQ will need to EDIT it's own TITLE. Because this site isn't going to be strictly about Motorola Q's. Once Q usage has diminished significantly, the name will be unrelated to it's content. Perhaps doing like that OTHER site did and pull the "Q" part out of name, then make it something like ...well.. I don't have an idea as of yet. but think about that one if you will. Adding new categories is important, but also changing the title will support it's added categories. If you get what i'm trying to say.....

Good points, COPS. While I have no experience whatsoever with Android I think it would be good to have other areas. My only concern is that there are more than a few smartphone forums that handle "everything" so my fear is that we can begin to start losing our "uniqueness". On one hand continuing to remain a "motorola smartphone board" contines some kind of uniqueness.

I had envisioned that more people would post in the other smartphone area such as the Blackjack or the Ozone and we could continue to focus on non-touch screen devices because there are some other new ones out there. There's so much development around WM Professional esp. software wise and not enough on WM Standard so that's why I at least like to look for and post software compatible for Smartphones.

Again, you have a great point about other phones though because there are other users that have Touchscreen and other devices on here. The biggest factor of this site though does remain to be participation and I wonder what we can do to change that. We got plenty people signing up everyday but maybe it's just me but I don't see much activity outside of "hello, I'm new to the forums." Anyway, that's another topic.

Maybe it's just me. Perhaps it is due to the fact that I have owned a Motorola device for so long that I'm just looking to see something new....besides "Motorola" devices. How is Motorola's stock doing? Besides the Sholes, what other devices does the big M have on it's smartphone list? I thought I heard Motorola wouldn't be doing any more WinMo devices? Perhaps you are right , in that HMQ shouldn't veer too far off the branding course. Nah.. not another Brighthand or PPC geeks. Just thinking a little outside the box. And then .... it would be good for whatever device this site supports, that one of the mods or admin own one. You see, a mod with knowledge of the device gives an upper hand to respond to user questions. Otherwise, all we can do is SEARCH like the rest of the people.

I'm not certain on what device. Wait for one (or two) of them to be released then see how the market does. If the device was all hype, then comes out and turns to be garbage, well then you know not to expand into that device category.

I'd say add a general Android forum and we'll post in there and see how it goes.
