I’m sure the first accessory you wanted after you purchased your Motorola Q was a skin case to protect it right? The Q’s thin size and stylish look was probably the reason why you purchased this smartphone in the first place. The last thing you probably want to do is cramp your Q’s style with some bulky case. But who am I to tell you who you are and what you want? But since you're reading this anyway, you might like to know that HelloMotoQ got our hands on a BoxWave FlexiSkin skin case for our Motorola Q. Read on!
I love how thin and stylish the case is. Because of the FlexiSkin skin case's small footprint on the Q it fits snugly on the device and still allows me to use the Q's holster (not that I would, because I’m all about all about maintaining my street cred), which I will discuss later on in the review. Note that the QWERTY keyboard and wheel are not covered but the soft keys, TALK, END, and D-pad, and side back button are all covered. The buttons still feel nice if not eaiser to press with tactical feedback, and there are also "bumps" so that you can feel the buttons without have to actually look at them. Nice touch.
Putting the FlexiSkin Skin Case on the Q is easier than 1-2-3. Just remember this rule: Bottom in, Bottom out. The next few shots will show you how easy it is to put it on and take it off. If I can do it, then you can do it.
The texture of the FlexiSkin is very smooth and it doesn't collect dust. It has a great feel and is smooth like butter . You're probably wondering what happens if your FlexiSkin gets dirty right? Well we here at HelloMotoQ leave no rock unturned. We decided to investigate the washing process by actually contacting BoxWave and asked them about the cleaning process. The customer service representative kindly told us to wash it under warm water with mild hand soap (make sure it’s not dish soap). After we were done washing our FlexiSkin, it was as good as new. But one thing you want to remember is to take your Motorola Q out of the FlexiSkin before you wash it, but you probably already knew that .
Now if you're wondering about how the Motorola Q fares with other Motorola accessories, you've come to the right place. We tested it out with the included holster and although it seems to be a snug fit, it works just fine as shown in the images below.
A few things that did not work while the BoxWave's FlexiSkin skin case was on was the OEM desktop charger and extended battery cover. Unfortunately we do not have any pictures showing this, but just trust us that it doesn't. Maybe BoxWave will have a FlexiSkin for extended batteries in the future as well as a desktop cradle that will work with the FlexiSkin on.
Conclusion
Overall, BoxWave's FlexiSkin skin case is a great way to protect your Motorola Q without the bulk of other cases while still protecting the unit. I'd recommend this case to any one who wants to keep their Q's in pristine condition. Bravo BoxWave, bravo.
Rating: 4.5/5 Pros: Protects the Q without the bulk, flexible, easy to clean, easy to put on, fits with most other accessories, comes in many colors to fit your lifestyle. Cons: Currently does not work with OEM desktop charger or with extended battery cover on.
I bought the Moto Q last week. I also picked up the ext Batt at the same time. It was hard to resist at $20.
This Boxskin case looks nice and looks like a necessity.
Unfortunately, they don't support the extended battery/case. If they had it, then I would order it.
I went to their website and left feedback suggesting the ext batt version of the case.
Currently, I am leaving my phone in the Verizon leather horizontal case. With the ext batt I have to slip the phone with the top side going into the case first with the screen facing my jeans.
Love the Q. I sold my Treo 650 the same day that I picked up the phone.
I would recommend everyone who is viewing this thread that wants a BoxWave FlexiSkin that is compatible with an extended battery to submit a request here:
I couldn't tell from the pictures or descriptions - does it have a thin layer of clear plastic that would cover the screen? I'm worried about getting dust under the screen and it seems like if there's a gaping hole over the screen, it might not protect against such a threat.
Thanks for the question! The case does not have a thin layer of plastic to cover the screen. I would recommend a screen protector like the one reviewed here:

Looks like your requests paid off...BoxWave is now offering a FlexiSkin for the bigger battery.
It's $5 extra , but lower sales expectations and extra production charges probably merit the marginal rise in price. Check it out...
