I am not surprised that Verizon/Moto has crippled the Q (yet again) and is no longer allowing BT-DUN. I had a feeling that the new "update" was more for their income than for the phone . I will have in my possession this week an old Q working with BT-DUN and a new one with the firmware update. I will see if there is a way to convert the new updated one into the old firmware and will post results in one week's time.
Best of luck!
PS thanks TIM for all your help, this forum has really taken off.
if the process works, what needs to be activated with Verizon? Am I good to go, or do I still need to call them and activate the $15 a month plan. I don't want to get out of the fee. I just don't want them to deactivate the connection.(an early post mentioned pleading) I tried PDAnet and it won't do BT on a Q. Verizon told me I had to go to a 3rd party for software as they don't support MAC. So, are the minutes connected useing this method under the unlimited data plan, airtime, or a different thing all together?

Interesting. according to the PDAnet site(junefabrics.com), PDAnet only works via bluetooth on MACs. Again, according to their site(kind of hidden I might add), bluetooth DUN is not supported on the Q. I found this out after I paid and downloaded PDAnet. I installed it on my Q using a PC. It is version 1.72. The option "Enable Bluetooth DUN(COM7)" on the Q is grayed out. Below it in bold. "(Bluetooth DUN is not supported)". I do have a first version, pre-updated Q. Does that have anything to do with it? here is the link http://www.junefabrics.com/pdanet/bluetooth.htm. It says Bluetooth (Q is N/A). I pointed this out to junefabrics and they refunded my money right away.
If you have a way to make it work, please let me know what I am missing.

You have to use the bluetooth active sync option. There is one other way to do it but I didn't bother, as it seemed overly complicated. This one is a few easy clicks and you're on.
I dont know what you were doing, but what I do is this.
Install Active sync on PC
Install PDA net on both Q and pc. ( I still even have just the trial)
Make sure PDA net is running on your pc, as well as active sync
The active sync icon shold be gray.
Go into active sync on the q and choose "Connect (sync) via bluetooth)
The active sync icon will turn green, do it's little spins which means it's connecting.
Once it's connected, and run through it's sync process "I unchecked all the sync functions" it will be solid green.
Once it's green, PDA net will automatically pop up and ask you if you want to connect.
Wallah...
FYI: I found out how to do this from the program. After I installed pdanet, I right clicked on the icon in the task tray, and clicked on settings, and clicked on "Bluetooth Connect Instructions."
I have version 1.72
you must have really not tried anything at all if you missed something as simple as that.
I've used it numerous times and it works flawlessly.
<you may have to make sure that you pc's bluetooth manager recognizes the Q and it's ability to sync via bluetooth. This is easily done when you first introduce the pc and q to eachother via bluetooth>

These seem like great instructions...........if you have a PC. My original post was refering to tethering with a MAC. I was trying, and did not miss anything simple as you suggest. Again, bluetooth DUN is not a funtion on the Q with PDAnet. This is according to the PDAnet website. Not just me.
