Motorola May Exit Handset Business ...

As we all know, or learning just now, Motorola has been losing its ground a lot of late. They were the leading handsets since forever, up until the RAZR. What was wrong with the RAZR? Nothing. The only problem was, they stayed there a little bit too long.

There are more problems with Motorla recently. Some people are saying it's the platform issue, or softwares. The hardware is there, but there's nothing to control the hardware. Having not gone forward for sometimes, they started considering quitting the handset market in all.

One other option is to break their companies into divisions. They could do that and seel certain parts of themselves to the Chinese vendors. However, the Chineses vendors aren't even sure of what to do with the loss that Motorla is going through. They don't know what to do with Motorola's problems.

With the way things are going, I'm not so sure how Motorola will do. If they're gone away... what will happen to the Q's!?

The RAZR hung around too long and a lot of their new phones look just like the RAZR only they slide out or they flip different (or don't flip at all) or something.

Motorola is a big company of which cell phones is one aspect of their business. Though it may be a bit of system shock in seeing it exit cell phones, I wouldn't worry too much. Remember when AT&T was big, then it folded and got bought out by Cingular and now here it's back again or IBM whose laptops were very much regarded but sold the biz to Lenovo. IBM is still around and very strong.

As for Q support, it'll be Sprint's problem. They'll either have a contract with Motorola for repairs or just replace it with another similar type made someone else.

On a side note, I found out that for many laptop companies, when a unit needs repairs, it's UPS - yes the Brown guys - who do the repairs.

It's getting tougher to tell who's who any more.
