Motorola CEO Greg Brown takes personal control of phone division
Posted Feb 4th 2008 8:45PM by Nilay Patel
The drama at Motorola just keeps coming -- apparently CEO Greg Brown has now taken direct personal control of the mobile phone division in an effort to turn it around. Of course, this move -- announced in an internal email leaked to Reuters -- comes in the wake of buyout rumors and Motorola's own admission that it might spin the handset unit off. We're not certain what steps Greg plans to take now that's he holding the reins, but we might know some people who might have some ideas.
I still dont understand why Motorola would spin this off.. All they need is to work on a better structure for their software and stop relying on the RAZR and theyd be back in business.. They milked the RAZR for all it was worth and are STILL trying.. They just need to stop updating it and make something new and innovative..
Like the ROKR E6.. damn fun phone..
Motorola used to make some of the best electronics.. And I fail to see how the CEO is going to make a difference.. Chances are hes going to do the same thing radioshack did and have the CEO step in and say how much we suck and where he wants us to be and never tell us how to get there..
CEOs are more numbers and strategy than design and developement..
