First things first: this isn't the first time (in the past quarter) that we've seen a handset vanish from Sprint's website, only to get fanboys riled up and it reappear days later when stock refreshed. That being said, quite a few Q9 / Q9c users are thinking the smartphone may be gone for good from The Now Network. For starters, neither phone is listed on Sprint's website. Furthermore, we're hearing reports that "discontinuation" has been confirmed by a number of Sprint representatives, though no official word seems to have leaked out just yet. Curiously enough, the carrier just posted the Windows Mobile 6.1 update for the Q9c earlier this month, giving us at least a reason to believe the lights aren't shut out entirely just yet.
so lets just say that its is gone. no refurbish or straight from motorola are going be give out to replace it. what will we get that will be close to the q? or will they just give us some credit for any other phone of our choosing???
The Samsung Ace (aka Blackjack II I think) is the only Windows Mobile Smartphone. The HTC Touch and Mogul are their two Pocket PC phones. I don't think I want any of these. They had better come up with a better alternative by the time my contract is up or I'm out.
The new samsung is fun to play with though. Again not WM. Im waiting to see what comes out this year on sprint before I upgrade. A PPC is looking better and better.
An Ipaq.Man those got some fat *** CPU's! Battery life prob. sucks.Don't know if they make'em as phones though.
If your going to switch networks.Pick one with the best phones available. As far as I know. All networks suck so there's not a whole lot of diff. except the selection and service costs. There is no "Good" network.
here is what was told to me from a telasales rep when I asked what they think we would get as a replacement; they said they would probably get one directly from motorola.
I'm on my fourth Q. The first would lock up every hour or two. I got it on Saturday and it went back on Monday. The second was good for about a month then started acting like the first so it went back. The third came with two stuck keys so it went back the next day. I got my fourth on the same day MOL3 came out and it has worked like a champ.
Every time I took one back I dropped the phone off at the Sprint store, walked to the Red Hot & Blue to eat some BBQ then walked back to the store and picked up my brand new Q. I was never without my phone for more than an hour.
What now? I'm going to take my broken Q to Sprint, they're going to order me a new one from Moto and I'm going to wait with no phone for several days? No thanks.
