Sure we told you about the official build of for the Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrade for the venerable HTC Ozone on Verizon (see review) leaked a few days ago, but what about an official release?
Looks like Big-V pulled the trigger and you can now get the upgrade directly from PCD, their 3rd party support channel thing-a-majg.
And yes, it's the exact same build number as the leaked, so if you did flash with the earlier version, no need to re-do it. Need to see an over-view of the upgrade? See our earlier coverage with some screen shots.
(And yes, we're having an official contest on how many times we can say officially. Meow). Upgrade here.

if there is, it wont be an official carrier upgrade. The Q9's have been around for quite a long time and many new handsets have been released. If there is one, it will be a cooked ROM.

Just bought the HTC Ozone (well, I actually got it for free from Verizon, but whatev) and I'm wanting to upgrade it to WinMo6.5, but I'm afraid to. I don't wanna brick my phone. I shouldn't have any trouble, but are there any special things I should know? Or do I just plug it in to USB, transfer the .cab files, and run them on the Ozone?
DyMIC, in this case flashing the phone to the new ROM is easy as pie. You actually download the install file on your PC, sync your phone, run the file and wait for about 3-5 minutes and the process is over. It's this easy because the flash is an official flash and not a hack that you have to skeptical of.
Just a few precautions:
Visit some other sites where there's more activity on the Ozone boards and see what other people have to say about their experience with flashing. I haven't looked but I guarantee you most people would have said positive things about it. If there are any "watch-outs" they would have posted them there too. Generally speaking there's always one idiot that will have to say the exact opposite of everyone, ignore that idiot. You have to kind of gauge and weigh the opinions.
When you run the install file on your PC you'll get a readme document. Read it. It will tell you exactly what's going on.
Make sure you have ample battery life left on the phone when you decide to upgrade
Back up your files, everything that you put on there will be wiped and you will have set up your contacts, photos, messages etc. If you use Microsoft Myphone it will be especially easy because it may already come pre-installed though I'm not sure. It came pre-installed on my verizon Imagio.
While the flashing takes place you'll see weird things on your screen but don't mess with anything. As a matter of fact just put the phone down and watch the magic. It will reset and tell you when it's done.
You will enjoy WM 6.5, trust me. More than likely it will come with some performance enhancements, better battery life.. I haven't verified this but again, check the first bullet point.
I have flashed my Q9M, my HTC Touch (both hacks) and the Imagio. (official) Once you do it and you get the concept it's pretty easy. I'll tell you flashing my HTC touch was my most adventurous because there were many steps and I ran into some problems but it worked.

Coolness. I already have all my contacts backed up into Outlook, and I just barely got the phone. I have all the .cab files for all my programs stored on my computer, and all my photos are already uploaded onto the web.... so I'll give this a try and let you know what happens and what I think.
BTW.... IF in some case I don't like 6.5, is there a way to revert back to 6.1? Or am I just stuck?
There is no reverting, 6.5 will replace 6.1 permanently... kinda.. if you can find a 6.1 ROM for the Ozone you can manually flash it.

Well, I did it, and WM6.5 is dope. It's faster, and there's some better options. And it does help with the battery, too. Awesomeness! Thanks for the link to the ROM.
