I am wanting to have the GPS functionality with my Moto Q. I just bought it a few weeks ago through At&t Wireless and is states on their website "Windows Mobile 6 Smartphone with integrated GPS" . They have a service you can purchase through them to pay by the month for unlimited routes, or you can pay by each use. My understanding is that since I have built in GPS, I should be able to get software that will let me use the GPS functionality of my moto Q whenever and how often I want without incurring any charges. Is anyone familiar with this? If so, any software recommendations?

Theres probably other programs that you can get. I tried the telenav which comes with the fone and i thought it was a bit slow so i cancelled it before i had to pay... now i downloaded the google one, which is not really a navigator program but it does give directions and it shows the route on the map marking your position with the GPS... i also like that i can get the satallite view while doing so. So give it a try, its free and you can delete it if you dont like it... nothing to lose.
The integrated GPS feature is only active while you are paying for the navigation service that comes from your carrier. If you do not pay for the carrier's service, the integrated GPS is turned off and you must use an external BlueTooth GPS receiver. Sucks, I know, but it's capitalism.
Anyway I use a Holux BT receiver with my Q running Route66.

Not true
I run the GoogleMaps and the Windows Live Search and use the GPS functionality on both to map my positions. GoogleMaps provides turn-by-turn navigation... so it follows me around the city as I'm driving
I'm about to head out from work or else I would post all the links to the reference material to read up on the workaround to get the GPS working.
I also have a Q9h, if you search Modaco.com, you will find out a lot of info about the GPS. There is a program that will enable the GPS for use with programs other than TelNav. The cab file will make the GPS look as if it is connected to a COM port. I have tried: Route 66, TomTom 6 (this is quite difficult to use without a touch screen), Google Maps, Nav4all, and GPSTest. All work fine as far as connecting to the GPS. Be careful and set the GPS to COM 3 otherwise it will always be turned on and can drain the battery quite fast. I have finally settled on Route 66, because it is the best suited, most powerful program for a WM6 Smartphone.
Thanks
Randy
