Is there a how to for memory card installs?

I just got my me card, SD8gb micro SDCH, the "Getting Started guide" and the "Users guide" give nothing on the correct way for a 1st time install.

Should the phone be on or off?
Is the card already formatted or do I do it?
If so what is the correct path to what I need to do to install it so I can start using it?

Q9h, wm6.1

Please and thank you.

Personally I would start with the phone off but it probably doesn't matter. It should already be formatted. It will show up as a folder in File Manager called Storage Card. I don't know if you'll need the SDHC.cab fix for the Q9h or not but it's in the download section if you do.

Ok, I was being daring and wanted to see what would happen if the memory card was pulled while the phone was ON....

It freaks the hell out...the phone that is. It will slow down to a crawl and then freeze. I had to take the battery out, put the card back in, and then restart...back to normal.

Now, I must add, that my phone book (I use PhotoContacts Pro) are saved on my memory card as well as my calendar, E-mail, cache, and various other programs, which is probably why the phone freaked, but I'm assuming it would act like this no matter what....

I swap my card out all of the time while my phone is on with no problems.

That's why I said it probably doesn't matter because I knew that as soon as I said don't do it someone would say they did it all the time. I'm like tdetroit. I have my mail and IE cache and several running programs pointing at my card so I never take it out while the phone is running.

Yup, and as I've mentioned...I use Photocontacts Pro, and it keeps my contacts and their pictures on the memory card, and the moment you pull it out, the phone goes crazy, 'cause its phonebook just got "yanked".

I didn't try to format the card once I found memory mgr. and card storage info 7.6gb. I did install it in the off position just for GPs.
My intentions for the card are mostly for music and documents.

The frustrating thing was discovering how to get the music into the storage card so I could use it there's no info in the guides.

Shortly after posting this thread I got the card in, from that point until close to 11pm was spent figuring out how to get the music from the PC's WMP to the mem card. Eventually I ripped the CD to WMP and then it let me sync it to the card.

I bough a card reader along with the card, I'm going to see if I can copy and paste from the PC or CD player to the card.
I bought wifey a Zune earlier this year, the sync software is way easy, fast and well laid out Motorola should should incorporate and utilize it
