Perhaps they figured with the prevalence of BT nowadays that the IR was no longer needed. I still use IR quite a bit when I am setting up phones for clients and don't want to plug them in. Easy as pie to just sit them next to the PC's IR port and go. A lot simpler than establishing a BT connection.
All of the new computers I get in at work from now on are not going to have PS/2 ports or floppy drives. I guess the old stuff has to go sooner or later.

Well for me, I work in the custom A/V industry. Having that IR was also handy to learn in IR codes from remotes in the field, in a pinch, and be able to email the file to myself for programming use later.
Not it's intended use and I make up a tiny percentage of people using the functionality in this way, but it was handy.
I just got it too. Thursday to be exact.I had to call twice for activation though, it seems internet access was not ready on the towers. An hour later... unlimited! I love it so far!
I just got mine yesterday and LOVE it so far...took a lil' bit of time to learn the different menus and still working on learning how to put music in it. Any suggestions?
