Device Resets When Changing Batteries

I've got 2 batteries for my Q that I use when I am going to be away from a power source for an extended time. The only problem with this is that whenever I change the battery, my device resets to the factory defaults. Is there any way to prevent this (short of plugging the device in when switching batteries)? It would be nice if there was some way to backup all of my settings onto my SD card so that I could easily restore them after a battery swap although I'm not sure if that's possible. Any help is appreciated.

After looking into the issue further my device resets any time I power it off. It doesn't matter if I take the battery out or not.

Well I called Verizon and they told me I would need to use another phone for them to troubleshoot me. So then I went to the VZW store and they told me I needed to go back home to run the software updater. Software updater won't work so now it looks like I have a non functional phone since neither tech support option can help me.

Just tell them the software updater wouldn't run and demand a new phone. How long have you had it? Do you have insurance for it?

I just did a hard reset which fixed the issue of the phone resetting on power off.

I called the Verizon tech support line one more time to see if I could get it to update and I was told that my version was the latest. I guess the guy at the store was looking at the Q when I had the Qm9.
