I noticed it does that sometimes.I could be in the middle of typing a real long message.I'll stop for a minute..keypad light goes out,start typing again and the light comes back on.Sometimes however,when I start typing again;the light doesn't come on.I dont know why this is.Try adjusting your keypad backlight timeout.
