I recently acquired the Q and i was charging it last night on my old blackberry charger which has the same mini din connector. Today the alarm didnt go off so I took it out of the holster and it would show the Verizon splash screen and went dead. I thought there was something wrong with the Q. I came to office and was calling Verizon Tech support and I just plugged in the charger it came with and it started working again.
Never use a charger that wasn't meant for that device.A lot of Motorola devices have interchangeable chargers as the connection and output voltage are the same.Using that Blackberry charger..well who knows what the output voltage is on that. You could fry the phone or the charger even.Or even cause the battery to explode.Just because the plug looks exactky the same,it doesn't mean it will work.
As far as your problem goes..It could be an overvoltage problem from the BB charger that caused it to lock up.Parts cool off..things return to normal.Did it get hot when it was on the BB charger?
I had my Q on the holster and when I plugged it in to the BB charger it beeped like before to tell me it was connected. So I figured it was charging. I am going to take my motorola charger home and do it that way. I guess lesson learned. I always thought that all the chargers with mini din connectors are the same.....
word of advive never ever use a bb charger on a q as was noted before it can fry the battery the moto chargers have a chip designed for motorolas that limits the charge to keep this from happening on a side note a mini din charger for most htc devices are nearly the same as the moto chargers of course this is all according to my local techie at work
