I have over 10k contacts in my Q and anytime I enter someone's name the phone tries to look up the name and takes minutes to return.
It obviously makes it difficult to use when any time I need to call someone, I have to wait 5-10 minutes to get their number.
Is the number of contacts the problem, or is there something I need to do?
My guess is that it's the number of contacts that you have. 10k is quite a lot, and as much as we praise the Q for its features and peppyness, it still is slow in some sections. I'd recommend waiting for the next ROM update which should be just around the corner to see if it fixes this issue.
Mark, I started with 3500 contacts and the Q's performance is such that it is nearly unuseable. I am pruning my contacts database, exect I can eliminate 1000. Will test then. I am very hesitant to think M$FT will correct this is reasonable timeframe. In my experience an old Blackberry (7280) has very linear response time, regardless of the number of contacts; this is a doable challenge for a 'pda'. Frankly, I am floored by the lack of utility with the Q. RIM sure has it right...
