resulting in a error message about "line is busy". After manually checking POP3 mail I do a "kill all" then put the phone in flight mode to kill the data connection. What should happen (in my mind anyway) is that the phone should take itself out of data mode at that point and remove the PDA icon from the top bar but 2 out 3 times it does not and I have to power the phone off then back on again to get rid of it. It should not work this way. So far I have tried a Master Reset but that did not fix the problem. Motorola has suggested I have Verizon replace the phone but thought I would ask around first to see if anyone has a fix for this. Thanks
Hey macguy, others have been getting the same error msg. Seems like the modem tends to get buggy. Will let you know if we find a perm. solution. Otherwise, it's been popping battery out and back in.

A workaround for this is to initiate a voice call. That will end the hanging data session. Better solution than powercycling the phone or removing the battery. I should add that I did indeed have Verizon swap out the Q for a new one but it exhibits the same bug.

Thanks for sharing that tip! Any thoughts on what's causing the hang?

The modem seems to be hanging. I suspect this is a widespread problem but those that make/receive numerous voice calls during the course of a day would not be aware of it.
But is power cycling the same as pulling the batery? If not does anyone have any evidence to support this? Not trying to be rude, just tend to believe when supported by facts....
I mean this is not a PPC, so I figure a shutdown and battery pull are the same kind of soft reset.

Don't know. I haven't pulled the battery out of mine.
Power cycling in this case would be to power off the Q and then powering it back on after a few seconds. If you can't do that because your Q is frozen, then taking out the battery and popping it back in would do the same (just remember that data can be easily lost doing it the "battery" way as it is not considered a "proper" shutdown).
