I thought I'd bring this back to the top because I have a similar question. There are some files that are taking up tons of space on the Q, and have no apparent need...but are protected.

For example, in the Appication Data/Home folder, there are 3 videos:
nova.mp4
intriguing.mp4
future.mp4

Each one is close to 1 MB.

And, if that's not enough, all three are duplicated in the Windows folder.

They take up a total of about 5MB, and when there's only 50MB to speak of, that's a lot.

I want to delete these files as well. There are few ringtones and all those files that I want to delete. It doesn't let me delete through pc or phone as it's in read-only mode and wouldn't let me delete 'em. There's got to be a way to detele these stupid built-in ringtones. Please help....

In File Manager press Menu then Options. Clear the checkboxes next to Hide Hidden Files and Hide System Files. Press Done.

Still in File Manager, Select the file you want to delete. Press Menu then Properties. Scroll down to the bottom. Clear the checkboxes next to Read Only and System. Press Done. Now you can delete the file.

Unhappy still doesn't work

Negative!!!!

I followed the directions but the problem is, even when i un-check the "Read Only' attribute through file-manager for the files I want to delete, it doesn't apply the change as when i try to delete AFTER removing the read-only flag, it still complain permissions denied. Then i went back and checked the read-only flag, it was turned on again. Seems like it's not saving the changes and still doen't let me delete the files. SUCKS!!

Any work-around anyone????

I believe the files in \Windows are protected but you can clean out most of \Application Data\Home and the .mp4 files in \My Documents.

If you do a hard reset it is supposed to put the phone back the way it was when you got it. That's why they protect them.
