My device either vibrates or rings (depending on profile) every 15 minutes for what I can determine is no reason whatsoever. If the screen is off, it stays off, but I grab out of my pocket or off a desk to see what the notification is and it is absolutely nothing. Please help me shut off!bullockjm
well, first off, i don't have "sound & notifications", but just "sounds", let alone a notification tab...is there an update that I am missing?
otherwise, i am not really sure what constitutes"weird" as i am not sure what all of these sounds are for: exclamation, question, warnings, & keypad control. each one of the above has a sound setting. also, i do not have automatic email delivery enabled.

Hey bullockjm... the behavior of your phone sounds like you have an appointment reminder notification set for every 15 min. When the the reminder goes off, the screen will light up and then turn back off after a few seconds which makes what you're saying make sense. However, the confusing part here is that if it was an appointment reminder, you would be forced to press "dismiss". This is quite strange indeed... is there anything else going on?
You might just try setting the appointment reminder notification to "none" and see what happens.
I have shut off every sound (Start -> Settings -> Sounds) known to man except for Ring Tone and I am still getting a 3-beat decending tone or vibration, depending on profile, every :15 on the dot. Sound settings set to "None":
-Reminders
-New e-mail
-New text message
-New instant message
-Alarm clock
-Exclamation
-Question
-Warnings
-Keypad control (Off)
Again, just to clarify, when I get the tones or vibration the phone does absolutely nothing, except make the noise (screen is off, it stays off. If on, doesn't change at all and no messages at all)...it is really akin to a low battery experience, but my battery is fully charged.
If it matters, my OS version is 5.1.70 (Build 14523.1.3.0)...do I need to upgrade?

Mine does that, I think it means it was able to check for mail which I have set for evey 15 minutes...try changing you e-mail setup for "Connect automatically and check for mail"
This has also been driving me nuts. I did manage to edit the profile settings and changed the notification volume to off to get it to stop but hated losing the functionality of notifications of new text, vm, email, etc. I just turned off the unread message alert to try that but why is it doing this if there no unread messages? do unread emails count? This has been the only quirk for me on this phone otherwise I love everything about it.
Yes. Unread emails count. If you have "Unread Message alert" turned on. Anytime you have either unread emails or text messages, the Q will alert you every 15 minutes.
