My phone's battery died last night. Plugged it in to wall charger and it went all black then came up with "Motorola Flash Mode Bootloader Version....." and "Connect USB Cable". I did this today and nothing is happening. It won't turn on... nothing.
What am I doing wrong or not doing?
Well looking around there is no way to fix it. You have to take it to the store. Unless you want to try your luck at flashing it yourself, some people have claimed success by doing that.

I got that screen a couple of minutes ago. Now I am writing from my Q. All I did was remove the battery and put it back in. Not plugging in the USB like it said to do. Everything is back to normal. I got the screen after pressing on a bunch of keys at once, accidently, with the phone off.
I am in that same rut with my phone. I have everything to flash with but it won't load to a port and the micro sync cant find it. So even if u have everything to flash if your phone isn't on a port and active syne won't read you can't flash. Rsd won't do it. And if does you r lucky. I've read a few places try and update from moto website. Mine is Flashed to Cricket so I am unable to update my software.

I plugged my Q up to charge it so I could transfer contacts to my new phone...After giving it several mins to charge, when I went back to it, I had the flash mode error....I have tried to update the software but all I can find is Verison updates. My phone was originally from alltel, but when I got my new phone last week, I had to transfer to Verison because all the alltel stores in my area are closing. Any one know of a way to get this thing going so I can get my contacts off of it?
