Ive had the same problems with freezing up. this is the alltel Q , it freezes on the altell screen.tried the center and red hard format and it froze on that too. tried your flash interface and it froze on it too. this phone is only 2 months old and their wanting to mail me a refurbushed phone which im pissed about. why should i give up my new phone for a rebuilt piece of junk? and if i ever have problems with this other one they pop off the cover see the rebuilt tag and then act like its a second rate phone? And dont even ask for a replacement while yours is down , there are no smartphone replacements. your given a stoneage POS.it might have bluetooth (which is slower than hell) and the data software is nonexistant. As far as the Q i love the phone but this is awfull. i have never seen a phone that cant do a hard format!!!!!!!!!

well here it is Dec and im on my 2nd rebuilt Q from the XBM program from alltel's mail in replacements. If alltel ask you to do a mail in replacement say NO!!! your better off with what you have now!!! i checked a few things from motorola and if its under warrantee just send it to moto. will take a few weeks but it will be done right. and all you pay is shipping. because once you get the phone with the rebuilt tag in it you are not allowed a NEW replacement just a XBM one!

Hey guys, I just managed to freeze my Moto Q 9h and the centre silver button failed to respond thus stoping me from performing a hard reset. However, I searched around to postings of the Q during it's testing phase and found out that if the centre + red power button reset isn't working for you, you have another option...

1) Hold down the Z and E keys
2) Power on
3) Wait a few seconds

Voila!

Hope I helped someone out there.

Man, this sucks. I had my MotoQ crash the first day I got it, after I added many of the contacts. I had to reflash the thing. Is there a way to sync the contacts and settings to your PC without having outlook? I use Outlook Express and it doesn't integrate with ActiveSync.

I have the q9c as well. It froze on me the 2nd day of use. I advise you to NEVER, i mean NEVER pull the battery on the phone, while the phone is frozen. Always try to hold the power button for a long period of time to turn it off. Your q9c will fail to boot if you remove the battery while it's on. If it fails to boot, do not try to take it to the Sprint store, they are useless.
I brought it to a sprint repair store downtown san francisco, parking is crazy. They made me wait 20 minutes for them to attempt a hard reset and failed. They offered me this insurance plan for $7 a month, or a $50 to get it fixed. I only had the phone for a day. I went to another Sprint store and they told me to call sprint to print me a release form to get another Q. It was a friday afternoon, and the place was closed.
Anyways, I fixed it myself. If your q9c ever fails to boot, don't try to flash update, as the q9c is already fully updated. What you do is:

Hold the center key of the d-pad, then hold the power/hangup key as you would to turn it on. Keep the center key pressed. This will boot up a prompt to perform a master reset. Unfortunately the only option is to master reset.

Does anyone know if there are any other methods for unfreezing a Q? My Alltel Q (which I bought off of eBay) now hangs on the Alltel splash screen. I've obviously tried the master reset to no avail.

There is a method to reset the Q. You need to have a USB cable and motorola update software on your PC. You must hold two buttons on the Q while the Q is off, while plugging in the usb. This will bring your Q into flash update mode, from where will reset your phone with the latest update.
