Question Mark Issues....

Ok so Im starting to have an issue with my Q. Not sure if its user error, or phone error, I can't pinpoint exactly when this is happening. When Im typing an email, text message, memo, etc... instead of a question mark "?", I get a zero "0". The first time this happened, I was sending a text message so I exited out, cancelled the draft, went back in and it was still doing the same thing.

So, I did a soft reset (powered the phone off and back on...) This seemed to work, that time. Other times it doesn't work and I'll get sidetracked, put my phone down, pick it back up and it won't do the same thing it was doing, it will give me the question mark when I want it to.

Any ideas? Or should I take the phone back to Sprint and tell them to replace it?

You should only get a 0 instead of a ? if the text input is on alt or ALT. Keep an eye on the upper right hand corner the next time you're typing something to see if something is going on.

Do you type with your right thumb, left thumb or both?

I either type with my right hand or both hands.... Right now it is doing it (getting a zero instead of a question mark), and it says "abc" in the top right hand corner.

Thing is... I waited a minute, typed that out above...erased the text message and retyped it and the question mark worked that time....

This is a 9c btw... not sure if that makes a difference or not.

On 9c, "?" is default (no need to press FN key on the left)

If you want 0, you need to press FN key once. (For some boxes that take only numbers, you don't need to press FN at all for 0)

Sorry if this is all very basic, but one easy way to check your problem is to open an application like tasklist and create a new entry. Once you start typing, you'll notice how the FN and CAPS work, and how they can be locked by pressing twice

I know this.

What Im stating is that when Im attempting to type the question mark, the zero happens instead. I had already checked the FN button as stated in my reply to mtg's post above

As an update to this however, Sprint apparently doesn't know whats going on either....they are going to replace the phone tonight...It actually happened while the guy was troubleshooting it, he said it had to be a keyboard malfunction.

a month later...

Has there been any news as to what the problem is?

I've got the same problem, though when I reset, the problem goes away.
Guess it may have to do with an application that I was running?

I have had the same issue, but I can't think of a reason for it. It seems like a random "hiccup" to me. I can get it to add the "?" by going to the alternative symbols page (Fn, Caps).

How do I get the _ underscore on the Q9C? Alot of e-mail addresses from my friends have that between their names, and I have to add them manually on my computer and sync them to my contacts, but there has to be an easier way....
