Question regarding large files?

Hello,

This is my first smartphone. So far I am very happy but I have a question regarding large files.

Recently I have been getting this message that say memory low please remove some large files from your phone.

so I go into memory manager-->menu--view large files

I see the 5 ringtones I have, the teleNav.exe, telenavresource.bar, googlemaps.exe, and a bunch of dll files that seem to be connected to the on demand service.

I was wondering is it ok to delete some of this stuff or should I move it to programs files?

Some of the files i'm talking about are sports.dll, Tilewarehouse.bin, OpenNETCF.dll, Answers.dll I've tried googling these, to see what they are , but nothing comes up.

I appreciate the help!

Sounds like you have a lot of files installed on the device. Apps like TeleNav and Google Maps also cache data, which takes up even more room and is probably where all your storage is going, in addition to the Internet Explorer cache.

Do you have a MiniSD card installed? If not I would recommend getting one and moving some of those apps to the storage card. To do that, uninstall them and then reinstall them onto the storage card.

also removing dll files and other program files by themselves is not a good idea. you might cause certain programs to stop working and in turn uninstalling that program won't work right either. if you get a memory card then you can uninstall then reinstall the apps on to the memory card. that's a good way to save space.

Thanks that is what I figured. I've had the memory card since day 1, I don't have alot of apps installed on the phone itself, just the ones that came with it. I usually have tried to install everything to the card. I have a 1GB.

I usually dump the internet cache, temp files, and cookies after each use.

I have uninstalled googlemaps and tried to reinstall it on my storage card, but it still seems to \programfiles\ and to \Application Data on my phone and not the card, even though I specified to save it to card.
