It opens up things like ability to install software not specifically signed fo this model, edit registry etc. If you know what you are doing, it can greatly expand what you can do with your phone. If you don't know, it greatly increases your chance of royally messing up.

Constantinum, are you trying to promote this site? Clearly you say here not to go for certain software that unlocks your phone but as I have pointed out before certain Q models don't use SIM cards. Furthermore at the bottom of the page after you put in the model Q it says

When you go to the site there are no options for the Q9 series. Please provide some kind of additional information to support your replies. This is beginning to look like spam.
