I assume you've tried the wheel on the side.

IMHO the louder the speaker the worse the Q sounds. Listening to music through the speaker is like listening to AM radio.

Navigate to
HKLM/Software/Motorola/BPCTRLR/WaveDev/BaseGains

Locate DWORD Value StereoHdstPathGain

A larger number will specify a higher gain. The system must be rebooted for changes to take effect. For me, the optimum value is 10, but I would recommend raising in single steps above the default to avoid damaging equipment (or your ears). An OS reinstall will most likely revert this setting, so you may have to change it again if you update.

Resco and PHM

Resco is not just a registry editor - It's a suite of utilities that includes the editor and an explorer. If you have the explorer installed, that won't necessarily include the reg editor. Another option is PHM, which is truly freeware and easily downloadable. Some don't like it because keys and values can't be displayed at the same time. My response: So what? It has an effective search tool and switching from keys to values is a mere button press. Don't attempt to find any registry path if you don't have a registry editor. You won't find it. It's not a part of the file system.

Again, for those in search of HKEY-anything in File Manager or Resco Explorer, QUIT DRIVING YOURSELF NUTS LOOKING FOR THE REGISTRY WITH AN EXPLORER UTILITY. GET RESCO REGISTRY OR PHM.

Again, for those who still don't get it, read the above, memorize, and then write it five times on the chalkboard.

Wow, and I'll be damned if that does work too!! I turned the BluetoothPath gain up to 5 (default is zero) and make a test call to voice mail, wow--HUGE difference.

This hive may the savior to a lot of unhappy bluetooth users.
I know this thread is old, but I'm trying to get this hack to work with my BT headset. I have the H700. The volume is fine as long as I'm not driving. If I'm driving, I will have the volume on the headset and the Q set to max and I can still hardly hear the other person.

My BTHeadsetGain was set to 8 originally. I tried setting it to 10 and 15 and it doesn't seem to make any difference. Any other ideas on how to increase the volume?

Bumpingthe bluetoothpath gain worked for my H700, but I've found that unit is just not great for use in the car. I have definitely noticed that volume is greater, but the if you go to high, the sound gets distorted.

See the post in Motorola Q Built-in Apps labeled "Increase Audio Levels".I was not able to get the bluetooth gain to work for BT Streaming Audio.Such as when you have a BT stereo headset and playing mp3's or other music (not phone calls) through the headset.Increasing the value on BTgain has no effect.Maybe it works for phone calls. But not music.I'm still looking into what controls it.
