Thank you i am having a lot of trouble trying to get PHM Resgistry Editor to work: i can't find where it was installed, its not on my computer its not on my phone i have no idea where it is. Did i do something wrong?
It says the PHM registry program is only for 2002 edition smartphones: "First, note that PHM Registry Editor : Smartphone Edition is designed for Microsoft Windows Powered Smartphone 2002 devices, it will not run on other smart phones."
Did you copy then paste the .cab to your Q and then click on it? If so you should then find it under Start somewhere...accesories maybe?
There was no .cab file there was an application type file that was in the folder after i extracted it. I tried putting that on my phone to open it there but the phone wont read that type of file. Every time i open the file on my computer i get an error message probably related to the likely fact that it is only meant for 2002 edition phones.
Note here the changes in bold red to the original tweak thread to suit the Q9M:

3. Changing System Startup Sound• Navigate to: \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds
- At the very bottom of the list of entries, there an entry called AllSounds
- Open that up and you'll see a list of mp3 files.
- All you have to do is append your own audio files (mp3, wma, or wav) to the list. Then you have to make sure that you place your new audio clips in the \Windows folder so that they are accessible.
- The next time you go to the sounds events page, the drop down menu will contain the new clips you added.
• If you want to change the system startup sound, go to: \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Motorola\SplashAnimat ion\Startup
- Change the hidden wav file, \Windows\vzw_startup_sound.wav to \Windows\MY_WAV_GOES_HERE.wav
- I'd be really cautious about changing the startup wav. You don't want the phone to lock if the audio file doesn't load. I converted my wav to 16bit, stereo, 22khz WAV file. I didn't use mp3 or WMA. This seems to work fine.
In the same registry directory you will find the key for the startup splash image.
Modify the string/value \windows\shuttersound_02_secs.wav to say \windows\*none*
- Yes it should have the ** around none
I'm trying to change this string/value but apparently WM6 is not letting me change it
I'm using resco registry editor. It chance it to "\windows\*none*" the resco tells me that I could damage my device and stuff, I select "YES" but the the string is back on default ... Has anyone had a problem like this before?? Should I try another registry editor? Is this hack only for MotoQ with wm5?
"Forgive me if any of these have already been discovered, but here are some I have discovered on my own [Change video camera quality] (changes bitrate to 512Kbps)
This is the property for BITRATE
Edit the Key VidoepropertyValue (Yes, it is spelled Vidoe on the key)
Default is approx 128kbps, I have modified up to 512kbps (512000)
Works like a charm and video looks nice.
(Note, this also seems to boost framerate from 10FPS to 15FPS."
To get more accurate time reporting, change the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Pictures/Camera/OEM/VideoProfile/(Profile #)/VideoAudioFileSizePerSecond
Edit #s, 1, 2, 3
Click on the number and edit the value under VideoAudioFileSizePerSecond
To 70000 (if you are using 512 for the bitrate)
The VideoOnlyFileSizePerSecond should be changed as well if you ever record without sound.
Basically this number is the KB representation of the bitrate. It is merely used for approximating the time remaining because the bitrate is dynamic and the codec will not consume the full 512kbps if not needed (similar to the framerate).
