Qwest changing cell serivce as of august

Well I called up to cancel my data plan because I needed it for my trip... we have the 1500 message and more plan, and if the q used the typical mobile web it is included on this plan, but since the q does not I started complaning to the service person.... that is when she dropped the bomb

As of august they are moving onto the Verizon network .. currently we are connected with sprint. she said that in august we are going to get a call asking us to pick out new phones, and get out of our current contracts. we could outright cancel our services with them.

Now I asked "what about the fact that I payed extra for my Q, do I get a new Q ?" she stated that we are to get a free comparable phone.

Now it looks like they are going to contract out like dish is (thats what she told me) and we are able to pick from there line of phones available. I suggest calling to confirm this.... they has been difffrent answers from diffrent qwest service associates, and this is where there services suck. One told me that I would still be able to use the internet on my phone, it would just be slower, but this was not true, and was told so by a tech.

Now I am a bit happy that I will get a new q, the one we get is the original Q. They have the Q9c and the Q9m, both have GPS a true upgrade from what we have, issue is that I purchased a extended battery, and it looks like I will need to get another . I got my Q in December 2007, and I love it.... I just hope she was right.

Worries about the change....

Well they are all going to be reciving training on this new thing by the end of this month. We all are worried that we are going to be downgraded on phones. I have the Moto q (paid 200.00), and he has the HTC mogul (300.00), these were purchased as of january of 07 . So for a comparable phone on verizons prices is much cheaper, the moto Q9m is 89.00, this is what I want. I just feel that we could have waited and got these same (to similar phones) for much cheaper if we had been with Verizon. The issue is that we have that much loved bundle.

I just hope they transfer us all without us all feeling like we have been taken.

The 9m doesnt have GPS with verizon (cant use VZ navigator), only the 9c. But not to worry, they are pretty much out of the new 9ms according to Verizon......

July 28 change over

So I have been bugging qwest, and trying to get the most info out of them, and they do not have much. All i got was "you will get a comparable phone for free, as long as you sign up for a 2 yr contract". she also stated that as of july 28 they will be offering verizon services and that if you call after that date you can change over. Then she went on to saying that if you want it bundled wait until october to get that. it sounded like you could wait till then to get the same deal to get out of your contract then.

Just call 611 on your cell and get the scoop, if I am wrong in any way I want to know. And it is possible to get different answers from diffrent associates. I know I did when it came to the idea to swiching from dish to direct TV.

The deal

Ok the deal is, You have three choices.
1. you can make the switch from qwest to verizon but if your in a bundle package then your wireless bill will not be included on your bundle package. it'll be like a new bill. Also you would have to sign a new 2 yr. contract with verizon. your trade phone for free will be the recent moto q or black berry pearl.
2. If your a bundle package customer, come october.... This is recommended. That you make the switch because Verizon will be part of the bundle package deal. Your free phones for the q will be the recent moto q or black berry pearl. Or you can buy a new phone for 25% off. Your contract will be the same. YOU DO NOT SIGN A NEW CONTRACT!
3. you can wait till February. February is when Qwest completly drops Sprint. Now if your still under qwest and have not made the switch you can totally drop your contract without breaking it or paying to drop it. its free.
