hey everyone...hope everyone had a good weekend. i had a question and i've searched the board before i asked and didn't find an answer so here it goes...does anyone know if there's a tweak so you can "edit" the "Sprint" on the homepage to have it read ur name or some other headline as you can do with a lot of other phones? i do apologize if this was asked and i just missed it. thanks in advance
You can change the carrier display by editing the .home.xml file you use for your home screen. Just search for <carrier/> and replace it with the text of your choosing. If you need more info on how to edit the .home.xml file, read my post on how to change the email count display. You may need to first application unlock your Q in order to do this.
i guess i can be a real airhead when it comes to these things. i tried ur instructions step by step but it wouldn't let me save the modification or whatever, i don't know. its not a big deal. i just wanted to put my name in place of the "Sprint". thanks for all ur help, Syndil.
Sure you can. You will need to change the .xml file for your home screen of choice and copy it to the proper directory in your Q.
Change the "<carrier /> " value to "MyNameHere" and "MyNameHere" will replace the carrier information on your home screen.
Please keep in mind, I believe that this is where the current network is displayed, so if you go to roaming, you will not have a visual indicator on your home screen telling you thaht you are off-net.
