sprint sero

hey there everyone... long time sprint customer, first time smartphone user here.

Just got the Q and I am liking what I see so far. Does anyone know anything about the Sprint SERO plan? I've googled around, and found many threads and articles on how to get it. Most of the information out on the web is at least 6 months old, so I was wondering if anyone new anything a bit more recent.

I've called Sprint Customer Service and Retention trying to get on it 6 times so far, and I've gotten 6 different explanations from 6 different reps about the criteria for the program. I already have a Q, and would just like to change my plan to something cheaper...

I was referred to it by a Sprint employee who is also a friend of mine. He told me I should call into Customer service to sign up for it, using his email as a referral. I have called customer service 8 times and gotten 8 different explanations about the program. It seems that no one has the slightest idea of what it takes to actually become part of the program.

Here are some of the ludicrous claims Sprint reps have given me:

"An employee must sign you up directly, customers can not inquire about the plan even if referred by existing Sprint employees"

"You must cancel your current account before switching to a SERO plan"

"You must pay early termination penalties if you are on a 2 year agreement before switching to a SERO plan"

"You can not keep your existing phone number if on this plan"

"You can port numbers from other provides when switching to this plan, but not from Sprint"

What is going on???!!!

I just signed up for the SERO 500 plan using the information here:

Sprint SERO Plan NOW for EVERYONE!!!

I just signed up Sunday morning, so I'm still waiting to get my phone.
If you want more details, this is the best FAQ I've found:

Yet another ignorant Sprint employee giving out misinformation about their company's policies.

While it was envisioned to be the "Sprint Employee Referral Offer" Since launching SERO Sprint has repeated offered the general public "Open enrollment" periods when everyone is eligible to sign up for SERO. Usually it's a holiday promotion. The last one I know of was the February month long Valentines day promotion. Before that the xmas holidays. During that time anyone could go to Sprint Employee Referral Offer and sign up using the publicly available promotional email address. No need for an employee referral!

Sprint has a great network and in the last 6 months has added alot of kick butt phones (which is something they sorely lacked for years). Unfortunately their customer service reps are just as ignorant and full of misinformation as they've ever been since I signed up in Dec 1999.

Call sprint 20 times with the same question / problem and you'll get 17 different answers. If your lucky 1 of them will be right, or just as likely all 17 will be wrong. lol

At least that's been my personal experience calling CS over the last 7 yrs.

If you say so, but if he can't safely refer to how others get in on it he need not comment at all. Why bother to give out inaccurate info? I don't think he's required to speak up and rep Sprint here in the forum?

He says the SERO plans are only for employees and also says Sprint has another program for friends and family but it's not for the public.

I thought employees had their own plan offerings that are at least as good as SERO? And that the SERO referral offering is the one for employee's friends and family members. Not to mention Sprint has taken to offering SERO to the general public as a promotion during special occasions like the recent holidays.

Sorry to sound harsh it's just that after years of being a Sprint customer i've concluded most of their CS reps are hopelessly misinformed and it's frustrating to no end dealing with them...
