Has anybody here sucessfully been able to use the "Modem Link" utility to use their Q as a USB EVDO modem? Here is what I am doing so far, hopefully somebody can point out my stupid mistake
(0. Install drivers, etc. from included CD-ROM)
1. Plug into WinXP machine via USB
2. Close out of ActiveSync
3. Goto Modem Link and push Activate softkey
4. WinXP says "detecting new hardware" and installed a device driver for "Smartphone Wireless USB Modem"
5. Create Dial-up connection with the following settings:
Phone No. #777
User & Password left blank
Now instead of seeing a "connected" message (like on the Treo 650's DUN) I get "Error 777: The connection attempt failed because the modem (or other connecting device) on the remote computer is out of order."
Please help!
Also, I would like to say that I think this forum is very nice and the extensive download section has already helped me find some great programs for my one-day-old Q. Keep up the great work
The software with the Sprint Q is for a DUN not an EVDO connection and as far as I can tell and I have tried there is only one way to get the Q to work as an EVDO connection. I am using PHAnet , it is EZ to use and works very well. I am not a fan of pay software so I tried everything I could think of before getting PDAnet, Sorry.
Oh yes, that is what I am trying to do (make a Dialup Network connection.)
Basically, I'm trying to emulate the DUN feature I had on my Treo 650, which shared its web connection via Bluetooth. It doesn't have to be fast, just enough to check/write email from a laptop.
I'm looking into PDAnet, but I'd rather have something that doesn't involve 3rd party software (what's the point of the Q's builtin feature then?)
