Before I turned my phone off it said "No Service" where it ususally says Sprint or "Home Service". Then when I turned it back on, it said "Phone Off". How can it be on and off at the same time? What does that mean?
It means that the phone is off but you still have the PDA available. Press and hold the home key until the Quick List appears. Choose Wireless Manager. Scroll down to Phone. Press the center select button.
I was recently in and out of service on vaca. While leaving my wifes phone had full service and my Q had an X. Any one know what that is and how to correct it.
That is usually an indication that the phone is off. Having the phone off in this case is like turning the wireless radio off on a laptop. The laptop is still on but the radio is off.
If the phone shows to be turned off then follow my instructions above to turn it back on. Pressing the center select button is a toggle.

Once I had a call from a Sprint tech guy about this... basically they swapped 3 Moto Q phones to one of their customer because the device said "Phone Off"...
What causes the phone to turn off? I've had it happen even when I have a strong tower signal. I carry the phone in my pants pocket but it shut off while I was walking.

Lol @ them I just give them the look =l

So did it turn completely off? If it keeps shutting the phone off, I'd say it's a problem with the software. Have you checked already with the Software Update?
