Ok, I understand that with the Q, you can't send a picture to ther phones simply using the 10 digit cell number. I have come to terms with that.
However, I am trying to figure out the correct way....
1) Take picture
2) Click SEND
3) go to send as TEXT MESSAGE
4) Select the appropriate carrier email in the contact (xxxxxxxxxx@mobile.mycingular.com) - for example.
Now, is that it? For some reason a cingular customer wasnt getting pictures....
I think i fixed it. I setup my xxxxxxxxxx@sprintpcs.com email (pop3 or whatever) on my phone, And was able to sucessfully send myself emails to my computer with the picture attached. Now, I assume that as long as i send it to the proper mms email address for the cell provider - that I will be good.
Anyone have any updates to these, or are they still good for picture mail?:
Thanks... HOWEVER, i have noticed that if i take a picture, send in an email from the picture menu prompt, and send it -- i still find that I have to go to the mail screen in the Moto Q, click on the mail account I used to send the picture, go to the FOLDERS option, then click on OUTBOX, then click on Send/Recieve... That seems like too many steps -- is there a way that it will send right when i attach the pic and hot send from the pic menu?
Here's how I would send a picture using my hotmail account. I'm picking Hotmail because it's closest to what you're doing. If I picked Outlook which syncs with my Exchange server then the message would be sent immediately.
Open Pictures and Videos.
Select the picture.
Press Menu then Send.
Choose Hotmail.
Enter the relevant information in the To: and Subject: lines.
Press Send.
Press the Mail button (at the bottom left of the keypad).
Choose Hotmail.
Press Menu then Send/Receive.
Going to the Outbox in Folders is not necessary to Send/Receive.
Ok great... You just confirmed that the send/receive DOES have to be activated. If that's how it is, then I can deal with it...
My next issue is setting the "return address" of my picture mail to go automatically to xxxxxx@messaging@sprintpcs.com so that when the person received my mms message on their device, and they reply, it will go back to my phone -- just like in the past when they would reply to a "normal" picture mail and i would get a response to my cell.
There is a setting for "return address" on the sprint.com email settings page -- but it still is replying to my visionusername@sprintpcs.com - which is where the email from my handset is originating....
I wish I could help you with that one but I don't have any expierence with using my phone's e-mail account (i.e. visionusername@sprintpcs.com). Good luck!
I don't care WHAT email i use, as long as the reply comes back to my phone as a text...
Also, do you know how to clear the new email notification number on the homescreen? If I have an email in AOL that I want to keep as new (marked unread) it keeps a "1" next to the email display on the home screen... I would like to clear that until the next send/receive...
Couple of things.. sounds like you figured it out already but you don't have to go into folders then outbox before pressing send/receive in order for the mail to go out.
When you send mail from the Sprintpcs.com account, it will go out as being from visionname@sprintpcs.comon behalf of whatever you have set as the email address for that account on your Q. When a person sends a reply, their message will be sent to the "on behalf of" address.
In other words, if you are just using your sprintpcs.com POP account to send text messages, then on the first screen of the setup page for that account, change the email address to your SMS email address. That way when a person receives the message, it will say it is from yourvisionname@sprintpcs.comon behalf ofyourphonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com, and when a person replies to that message it will be sent to the SMS address.
