Email Questions

I have a couple of email questions:

1. Does Telus just support the pull POP3 account? Is there any way I can have my email pushed to me?

2. My email now flows into my Pop3 section of the Q. Some messages I just can't be bothered with on the road so I delete it but found that I also seemed to have deleted it on the servers and cannot retrieve it at the office. Is there some way of deleting a message on my Q and keeping it on my server?

3. Not email related but screen related. I have tried all the background screens looking for the blue Microsoft one that you see in the ads but I cannot find it. Instead I have this parrot on my screen. How do I get the blue screen?

Thanks.

1. You can try emoze if you want. I haven't tested it personally on my phone but I assume it works (although it is not on the compatibility list). It allows for POP3 push e-mail.

2. That's odd... the Motorola Q should only download a copy of the message, not the message themselves. Wait... are you connected via IMAP on the Motorola Q and POP on your desktop? I'm guessing that's what's happening. You are deleting it on the Q and it syncs and deletes it on the server, then you download it all to your desktop.

3. I have a Verizon Q so I'm not sure if Telus removed this wallpaper. Either way, I have attached it to this post for your convienience. Enjoy

Tim -

Thanks so much for the wallpaper.

Regarding 2: You know I don't know if my email is IMAP on the Q. It registers as a POP3 account so I don't know how I would tell. It is the strangest thing to not have the email available on the server but to work around the mystery of the disappearing emails I have indicated on my desktop that it should save a duplicate on the server. This results in duplicate messages if I download my messages before Q gets to them. But it seems to work.

Thanks again,
TomZ

Tim -

One more thing if it is not too much trouble. I downloaded and copied the wallpaper over however I am still getting some Telus Green bleed on some screens (i.e. dialing). I was wondering what Color Scheme on the Q you have selected in order to get the overall blue consistency?

Thanks in advance.

If you go to Start>Settings>Home Screen>Color Scheme and select "Windows Default," that should do the trick. Is it found in your Telus Q?

Let me know if this works.

Hi Tim,

No it is not there. Let me tell you Telus has some pretty unusual colour schemes but not Windows Default.

If you could supply it and tell me in what folder to put the file or how to install it that would be great.

Thanks.

Default Windows Themes

Sorry it took a while for me to get back to you on this, but attached is the following themes:
  • Windows Basic (nomru.home.xml)
  • Windows Default (full.home.xml)
  • Windows Simple (simple.home.xml)
All you have to do is unzip the file and place the xml files in your \Windows directory.

Let me know if you have any questions and thank you for your patience!

Regarding your email question. Telus has "Business Inbox" that you can add to your account for free. You can get a telus.net email address or you can set up a POP3 or gmail account or whatever (not hotmail though). The business inbox is similar to the Blackberry server. It will check for emails and when you have one it will push it through instead of you having to connect and send/receive only to find out you don't have any emails and that counts as data usage!

You have to install the Business Inbox program on your phone. You can download it from your phone businessinbox.telusmobility.com/ota You have to actually set up an email first though to be able to download it. businessinbox.telusmobility.com

You also have to call and have Business Inbox Personal added to your account. It's free. If you want the telus.net email address you have to do this through mytelusmobility.com they will give you a messed up number and letter combination, you then sign in and set up an alias like my.name@telus.net.
