Hotmail/MSN/DST issues

I installed the DST patch on my Telus MotoQ a few weeks ago but it is not working for me (currently I am set to mountain time to resolve the time issue but I live on Vancouver Island) I upgraded active synch before installing the DST patch as I was told that the DST patch would not work unless I did that.

Apart from the time issues everything else worked fine (until yesterday) when I started to use my Hotmail account again. Hotmail (and MSN both) lock up when I try to connect. The only way to stop the failed connect is to turn the MotoQ off....

Other POP email accounts work fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions.....

Many Thanks

David

UPDATE:

As nothing I was doing seemed to help resolve the problem I have done a 'hard reset' Currently I have recreated the hotmail account and am still unable to connect to either MSN Messenger or my Hotmail account. I have to turn the phone OFF in order to stop the phone trying to connect (same as before)

It would seem likely that the problems are at the other end (and not with the MotoQ) I am able to access and use both Hotmail and MSN via the web...... So I don't know.....

I guess I will revert to only using my telus account for mail, and try to find some other messaging client.

David

For the record:

I resolved this by moving my mail (in external exiting folders) to new folders - and then deleting the folders they were in before. I actioned the above when after the second 'hard reset' the error message changed (when trying to connect) to 'getting folder list' (or similar)

Many thanks to all the Gurus for helping with this.

Cheers

David

Thank you kindly for the reply. I am thinking that the issue had nothing at all to do with the DST patch and (because of that) the question was confusing....

Likely the problem was related to something in a folder (that would not synch) and that was the real cause of the problem.

Cheers

David

davidA (and all):

I recently have been unable to update (send/receive) my hotmail account on my 3 month old US Cellular Moto Q. You mentioned a fix regarding moving email folders - please explain further.

U.S. Cellular's tech dept told me this morning that Microsoft is no longer supporting/allowing hotmail to work with the non 6.0 OS on my Q. Basically they told me I'm out of luck -- Ridiculous! I traded my Blackberry for the Q precisely because it was advertised as meshing well with Hotmail and able to download PDF attachments in my emails. I can still use the Q's Internet browser to get to my Hotmail account to read/send email but this method doesn't allow any attachments to be opened. It gets better - U.S. Cellular says that because I renewed my contract to get a discount on the Q - I am not eligible for a discount on a replacement smartphone - - so the HTC(?) 6800 I'm considering will cost me about $500!! I'm protesting this because it's not my fault that their vendor (MSN) stopped supporting their Q's OS. Any suggestions are welcome.

I don't think the U.S. Cellular person you talked to knew what they were talking about. Hotmail works fine for me. Are you using Pocket MSN or Windows Live?

I am having the same problem and was told the same thing by tech support. It is frustrating. Their answer - call Microsoft and complain.

Any suggestions.

I have had consistent problems with my Sprint Q and Hotmail. In researching this issue, I found out that Microsoft has released Windows Live for Mobile. This application replaces the hotmail application on the standard Q os load.

You can have email delivered automatically, timed or manually.

I just loaded it and it appears to work well. I loaded the standard version as the pro would not install. I have no idea what the differences are.
