I'd like to run MS Office apps and a GPS app on my MotoQ. I see that I need a file from Micro$oft called .Net Compact Framework 2.0 service pack 1. When I searched Micro$oft's website it lists a file: NETCFSetupv2.msi
I'm not familiar with that file extension. Should it be copied to my PC, then transferred via ActiveSync, or should it be saved to my storage card, then activated from there?
thanks - I'll learn all of this stuff eventually....
You need to have a partnership between your phone and your PC. You use ActiveSync to accomplish this.
To install the .Net Framework connect your phone. Run the install program from where you downloaded it on your computer. It will take you through a couple of screens (EULA etc.). Then it will say to check your phone for additional actions. On your phone follow the on screen instructions to complete the install.
This is how all software that is initiated from your computer (i.e. something with a setup.exe) is installed. Software that comes as a .cab file is meant to be copied to your phone (open ActiveSync and explore your device) then run from the phone.
