hey I've downloaded some exe. programs like a nes emulator and a streaming tv app that worked just fine on my q. I can't for the life of me figure out cab files. They transfer to my q as a folder of seven or so smaller files, nothing will run though.
I've found some useful programs on smartphonefreeware.com. I've noticed that they don't always post the latest version of the programs so usually when I find one I'm interested in I search the web for the publisher's website.
Smartphone-Freeware is a great site for WM freeware... but Q users beware! There are alot of applications on Smartphone-Freeware that are made for older versions of WM (2002, 2003) I personally have a Q with windows mobile 5.0, and some of the features and settings are not accessible. Make sure to read all of the information on the download/ application info page. If you do happen to install a program intended for an earlier version, it's easy to delete! Also, alot of the programs are intended for WM5+, but the screen resolution of the app does not match that of the Q... which I believe to be 320x240 (correct me if I am wrong)
The Homescreen builder is neat as well, but as I stated earlier, there are some issues with the resolution. Just set it up for 320x240 and sail away. The Radar background wont work because of this, and in order to use the animations and anologue clocks, you need to download the Animation plug-in and the Anologue Clock Plug-in from Madbeetle.com. Both of these plug-ins cost $4.95 each.
i think the site is completely misleading. its filled with tons of either entirely useless apps or trialware labeled as freeware. i hate sites like this. it should be sorted into truly freeware and trialware.. but then they wouldnt have any decent freeware and would lose advertising dollars and no one would bother.. but at least it would be honest.
Most of the stuff is free. Maybe your just looking at the wrong applications. But your also right about the trial freeware stuff. That gets on my nerves.
