Unfortunaetly because the Motorola Q is a CDMA device the ESN/DEC needs to be loaded into Verizon's, Sprint's, or any other carrier's database. I'm not sure if they even let you do this or if it is even possible. I've heard stories with other CDMA phones but I haven't actually seen anyone carry one around.
If you are wondering if it will work with a GSM carrier, unfortunately it wont because you need to have a SIM card as well as a slot on the phone and a whole new radio .
Hope this answers your question. Let us know if you need anything else.
To test if this works I'd recommend downloading a third-party program and installing it on your Motorola Q. If you can install something that you couldn't install before, then it worked!
